George Zimmerman not guilty, but still a target

BULLETIN

Florida police revealed today that George Zimmerman, and another, unidentified man, rescued a family of four from their wrecked vehicle on a Florida road last week.

Meanwhile, the Sanford police have turned over their files on George Zimmerman, and his handgun which the Department of (In)justice ordered the local police not to return to him, to the DOI.

All makes sense only in Obama La-La-Land, doesn’t it?

Now that George Zimmerman has been acquitted of all charges — which I stated on this website last year was the only just conclusion to the Trayvon Martin case — the race hustlers, cheated of their conviction of this “White Hispanic,” are marching, shouting, vowing, and pressuring.

Is anyone surprised? After all, that’s their stock in trade: Act like it’s still 1955 and Trayvon Martin is Emmett Till; talk as if evil White men are shooting innocent little black boys to death on every street corner, every day of the week; refuse to accept the verdict of a jury which appeared to take its work seriously and to weigh every ounce of evidence carefully before finally reaching its “not guilty” judgment on Zimmerman. The race agitators didn’t have any problem with the O.J. Simpson jury (nine blacks out of 12 jurors) taking only a couple of hours to find the big black football star not guilty of killing two White people, did they? Then, they celebrated. Their attitude was, “O.J. done offed two honkies, and got away with it! Right on, brothu!”

I must confess I was a little concerned when the jury selected for the Zimmerman trial was revealed to be five Whites and one Hispanic (under Florida law you can try a second-degree murder case with just six jurors, which in my opinion is nuts). And all female, too. I could imagine the blacks complaining about an “all-White jury,” and in all fairness there should have been one or two black jurors chosen; don’t know why both the state and the defense culled out all of them during the voir dire. And I could imagine an all-female jury letting their “maternal instincts” overtake their duty to be impartial; I could just hear them saying, “Oh, that poor, poor Mrs. Martin, she’s lost her little boy; how would WE feel if it had been OUR little boy? We just CAN’T let Zimmerman walk completely free!” Fortunately, they resisted any temptation they might have felt to do that, and rendered a fair verdict, based upon the available evidence.

Did George Zimmerman do the smartest things he could have done on that fateful night when his encounter with Trayvon Martin resulted in the black teen’s death? No; I suppose the “smart thing” would have been to stay in the house, with the doors all locked, call the police, and let them handle it. Only, as people repeat so many times nowadays, “When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.” Should he have stayed in his vehicle when advised to do so by a police dispatcher? Well, I suppose that, too, would have been the “smart thing” to do. But it wouldn’t have been very appropriate for an appointed neighborhood watch captain to cower fearfully in his vehicle instead of doing what he had been appointed to do — check out suspicious people loitering in his area of responsibility.

Trayvon Martin wasn’t the innocent little black kid the leftist media and the race hustlers have tried to paint him as, either. He had a record of school suspensions, strong suspicions of having been a thief, use of illegal drugs, and had bragged to friends about the fights he had been in.

If Martin had merely run away — to his father’s house, where he was supposedly heading on the way home from buying “candy” — when approached by Zimmerman, he would have been safe, Zimmerman would have gone back to his truck and called to tell the police that the suspicious person had fled, and none of this would have happened. But it appears that Martin circled back through the bushes, confronting Zimmerman and breaking his nose, which led to the assault by Martin and ultimately his fatal shooting by Zimmerman. If I had to guess, I would say that running through Martin’s mind when he circled back on Zimmerman was something like, “I’m onna mess dis crackuh up!”

Of course, when the story first hit the national media, the reason that it did was mostly because of Zimmerman’s last name. I can just hear liberal news media people saying, “A White guy shot a little black kid; killed him dead. And his name is Zimmerman — German! Probably an evil Nazi! Great story! We’ve gotta keep this one going for a while!”

Then the truth came out — that George Zimmerman’s father is a White American; his mother, a Peruvian of (probably) mixed European and Indian ancestry, with one black grandparent thrown in for good measure. Hence, George Zimmerman is not actually of any one race; he’s of mixed race. So the media came up with the term “White Hispanic” to describe him; just had to get that word “White” (as in “White Racist,” of course) in there!

There are “White Hispanics,” all right, but George Zimmerman wouldn’t qualify. A typical native of Spain would be a White Hispanic, for example; so would a  Spanish-speaking Argentinian of unmixed European descent; or a member of the European-descended minority in Mexico. Or a huge majority of the Cuban-American population in this country.

But the media didn’t want to use “mixed race” to describe George Zimmerman, as the liberal establishment in America tends to look with approval on the growing number of half-White, half-black children in this country, and refers to them that way. So in their view, Zimmerman couldn’t be referred to in such “favorable” terms. Hence, he became a “White Hispanic.”

So the race hustlers lost their cherished wish: To have George Zimmerman convicted, sent to prison for 30 years, and (they hoped) murdered by some black prisoner before he had been there for too long. Instead, Zimmerman is a free man again — though as his brother Robert said after the trial, he’ll be “looking over his shoulder” for the rest of his life. For the race hustlers are enraged and impotent, and spoiling for revenge.

Attorney General Eric Holder, head of the (In)justice Department, stirred the pot vigorously Tuesday when he addressed the annual NAACP convention, demanding that the “Stand Your Ground” laws in 30 states be repealed (presumably because they put black thugs in too much danger of being shot by their victims). He also vowed that his department will open an investigation into whether Trayvon Martin’s “civil rights were violated” (how many thousand times have we heard that in the last 40 years?) by George Zimmerman. And he is encouraging anyone who wants to “snitch” on Zimmerman to contact his department. What a wretched excuse for the United States’ top law-enforcement officer Holder is!

Of course Holder’s department has no legal leg to stand on, as an FBI investigation already turned up no — zero — evidence of any “racism” in Zimmerman’s past. And I’d bet that not a single state will repeal its “Stand Your Ground” laws; others who don’t have them at present, may pass ones of their own.

But of course, this situation is similar to the Rodney King one; the jurors in that case found three of four officers not guilty of the charges against them, and then immediately the Justice Department filed civil rights charges against them. They can insist all they want to that the charges are not the same, but in my book, that’s what lawyers call “double jeopardy.” Those police officers faced it in Los Angeles; now George Zimmerman faces it in Florida.

So much for a “post-racial America.” It hasn’t happened. And as long as the race hustlers can get political mileage out of stirring the racial pot, it ain’t gonna happen. You heard it here first.

And President Obama didn’t help things a damn bit today when he engaged in a rambling monologue for the press about how “Trayvon could have been me, 35 years ago,” and “young black men” are — supposedly — constantly stereotyped in this country and profiled as “dangerous” and “violence-prone.” You wouldn’t have been trying to gin up as much anger and resentment as possible for the “100 marches” about the Zimmerman verdict scheduled for Saturday (July 20) around the country, would you, Mr. President? Or could it be that you feel your “street cred” is slipping with the African Americans who are the biggest part of your base, and that you had to shore it up?

Either way, you didn’t sound like the leader of what we used to call “the Free World.” You sounded like a race hustler — a Rev. Al or Rev. Jesse — trying to ensure the biggest, baddest urban riots possible. Maybe you think attention needs to be diverted from all the scandals now plaguing your administration. But then, most of us are not surprised.
